The importance of being Nick Clegg..

As regular readers may know, I didn't think Clegg's apology over tuition fees was wise. But as Janan Ganesh points out, YouGov has recorded that the public agree with Clegg that the fees pledge was a sin, not the U-turn. And by a margin of 47% to 31%. Impressive stuff.

I went back and listened to Clegg's Today interview again. He really is an impressive performer. And what occurred to me was just how dis-ingenuous this leaves Labour's position. If Ed Miliband had just half the integrity of Nick Clegg, he'd need to make an awful lot of apologies..
