Parris gets it..

'If there can ever be a case for a kick-start through currency devaluation, Spain is a powerful candidate for the therapy. But if that is the solution, Europe is the problem. The government stands mesmerised by the euro, staring at Berlin and Brussels like rabbits before a snake - their imaginations paralysed, it seems, by fear of what might be outside the box: so trapped by the fear of being pushed away that the idea that they might simply walk away does not occur' writes Matthew Parris in today's Times.

He gets it. But I fear it will take a while longer - and quite a lot more economic destruction - before the political class does..
